Reminded of Days Gone By

There is something special
about a nineteen year old girl
no longer a child as she
basks within her innocence

Not yet the jaded woman
whose heart has been betrayed
broken once all too often
she has yet to become bitter

Fresh and clean just as lovely
as a spring flower the curvature
of her willowy hourglass figure
engenders lots of second looks

Old enough to be my daughter
she and her beau remind me of days
long since past still remembered
when my heart beat as one with another

Of the storms of passion the sheets
of my bed once sheltered that eventually led
to the conception and birth of my son
an event not likely to ever be forgotten
